Email marketing as the name indicates is a marketing technique in which electronic mails are used to advertise/market/sell/promote products or services. Email marketing has become an extremely popular marketing strategy in less time owing to that fact that it is extremely cost effective and it works!

Types of Email Marketing
Email marketing can be basically classified into three different types

1.) Direct email marketing or promotional email marketing
Direct email marketing or promotional email marketing is the simplest form of marketing which involves sending promotional mails to thousands of recipients. The main purpose of a direct email marketing campaign is to promote goods and services, attract customers and increase customer base.

2.) Ezines/newsletters
This email marketing strategy is also known as retention email marketing as it basically involves sending mails to already existing customers with a purpose of customer retention. This is one of the best ways of email marketing which is completely free of the spam problem. This method basically involves sending promotional advertisements along with opt in advertisements already existing newsletter belonging to other businesses. This is one of the strategies adopted to collect permission based email lists.

Email marketing campaigns are extremely cost effective and have shown huge potential in delivering results if used in the right way. Going for permission based email marketing and staying clear of email list vendors are two best polices in this regard.
